Why does your van need air suspension?

If you own a van it’s essentially one of your best tools to hand, this is why we say the drive needs to be comfortable and make your work along the way easier. Air suspension provides both of those advantages. In this article we’re going to look at the advantages, what it essentially is and why you should possibly upgrade to air suspension, and what kinds or air suspensions are best.

What is air suspension?

Air suspension is a system designed to run from compressed air and contains air spring bellows which are typically filled with air from an on board compression powered by the vans engine or a compressor you can find at most petrol stations in the UK.

They often include a control valve that is used to control the pressure of the air spring bellows typically based on the weight of your van, the air then travels to the compressor onto the control valve and then bellows by tubes and pipes. Depending on the design a control valve may be positioned centrally monitoring the tyres one for each wheel and one for each axle. Air suspension does not replace your already placed suspension in any way shape or form.
