5 Things That Could Ruin Your Vehicle's Suspension

It’s easy getting into the mindset of thinking your car’s suspension can’t be ruined but believe me it’s possible. Bad driving habits are usually the main cause for concern; the damage can be caused there and they can be built up over time. We understand that damage is sometimes unavoidable , the bumpy roads and debris on most roads don’t help but there are ways to give yourself a rest in different ways. Sanderson Leaf Springs is willing to share our top 5 tips that will help your suspension live a long happy life!

1. Slamming On The Breaks

Avoiding slamming your brakes on all the time being too heavy footed is a no go, your anti lock braking system will be used when there is no need for it, this is commonly caused when your wheels lock triggered by heavy braking. If you have a nasty habit of driving with your foot on the brake pedal then you need to break it ASAP you’re potentially endangering yourself and those around you, chances are you’re tailgating the driver in front and they’re not going to be happy either.

2. Weight Limit

Your vehicle will have a maximum weight limit and it’s there to be listened to, don’t be tempted to overfill your vehicle out of ease or laziness; you will cause unnecessary stress and potentially damage that could have easily been avoided.

3. Speed Bumps

Speed bumps are not there for your entertainment and should be approached with caution. Not only are you posing a potential risk to yourself and those around you, you may be causing unnecessary damage to your suspension, not just that you could pop a few tires in the process. Your suspension is technically designed to absolutely shock when you hit bumps or go over speed bumps but they can only take so much just to slow down it’s not worth the risk.

4. Preventative Maintenance

We understand that preventative maintenance can be a pain in the butt but it’s absolutely essential should you wish to keep your suspicions in pristine condition. It’s a simple way of prolonging your vehicle’s lifespan and you’re going to save money in the long run. Just like anything else your vehicle’s suspension needs to be maintained regularly, following your preventative maintenance schedule is a big YES, you’re going to find it lightens the load and becomes pretty cost effective in the long run.

5. Long Adventures

If your vehicle isn’t designed for off roading then simply don’t use it for that purpose, same as any other vehicle only used for the purpose it’s built for. If you have watched off-road competitions or even attended them you will have noticed those vehicles are fitted with top spec customised suspension, they’re made to withstand the field, ground and land they are driving on.
